Homosexuality

Today's Word Homosexuality

This word is a really touchy subject for me. I was with my friend Crystal and we were looking through the bible and decided to research homosexuality. Below are the passages that discuss homosexuality, we decided to translate them ourselves and this is what we came up with:

Leviticus 18:22
" 'Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable."

Tyler's Translation
In other words, Do not lie with a man who ALSO lies with a woman. It says nothing about lying with a man who DOES NOT lie with a woman.

Roman 1:27
"In the same way, their males also abandoned their natural sexual function toward females and burned with lust toward one another. Males committed indecent acts with males, and received within themselves the appropriate penalty for their perversion."

Tyler's Translation
Men who once laid with women developed lust for other men, making it a sin. Men who are gay were born with the attraction to men, thus never having attraction for men, which this is not stated in the bible as a sin. If a man who once had relations with a woman develops attraction for a man, that is considered a sin, not if the man only had attraction for other men to begin with.

What are your thoughts after reading this blog? Do you think my translations are right? If not, why?

Friendship

Today's Word: Friendship

Today I have a guest with me. She is my best friend that I have known since Freshman year in high School. She has helped me learn something and I am sure I have helped her. We are going to talk about friendship. I will give my in sight on friendship then Crystal will add her opinion.

Tyler:
I think friendship has to do with a lot of things. People think friendship is just a person that you have a social relationship with. I believe it is more than that. Friendship is something that is hard to find. Some people will look for it forever and ever. Some people find it rapidly. I was lucky enough to find it in high school. When I found my friendship it was rough at first, we had arguments, fights, and a lot of emotional phases. We still have some of those things, but since our friendship is so strong nothing is going to stop us now. I see us as partners more than just friends. I don't think I will ever find someone as awesome as my "BFF" haha.

Crystal:
Well what i think about friendship is that its not something to take for granted. I moved here after 7th grade, i lost all my friends when i moved and i was really sad. I'm not going to lie I really did miss my friends. But i made so many friends and I'm really happy and thankful, but my first year in High School i met this really awesome, dorky, and funny guy. He really helped me through a lot and still is. Its been 5 years and yes like he said we have our fights, arguments, and emotional phases but were still here and our friendship gets stronger everyday. People ask us everyday if we ever get tired of each other but even though were always together we always have something different to talk about. To sum it all up Tyler has been in all these years a great "BFF" and a great brother figure to me.

Read these over and leave a comment or reaction below. Tell us what you think.

ATTENTION!
I will be going under surgery and may not be blogging from April 10, 2010 - April 19, 2010.

Thanks!

Inspiration

Today's Word: Inspiration

I want you to read the following quotes and let me know which one you think inspired you to live life to the fullest. Life is too short to not have surprises, fears, or even heartbreak. All we can do is teach our selves that life is simply the most important thing known and we need to live it...

"Risk more than others think is safe. Care more than others think is wise. Dream more than others think is practical. Expect more than others think is possible. "
~ Cadet Maxim

"Each day is a new life. Seize it. Live it."
~ David Guy Powers

"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined."
~ Henry David Thoreau

"Throw back the shoulders, let the heart sing, let the eyes flash, let the mind be lifted up, look upward and say to yourself... Nothing is impossible!"
~ Norman Vincent Peale
Let me know which one you think inspired you to live life to the fullest!

Viloence

Today's Word: Violence

Violence is the expression of physical or verbal force against self or other, compelling action against one's will on pain of being hurt. Worldwide, violence is used as a tool of manipulation and also is an area of concern for law and culture which take attempts to suppress and stop it. The word violence covers a broad spectrum. It can vary from between a physical altercation between two beings where a slight injury may be the outcome to war and genocide where millions may die as a result. on

A lot of people use violence to cope with life. A lot of people go through life just angry and confused. Sometimes that is the only way we know to cope with our problems. I think we all need to find different ways to cope.

Here is what you can do the next time you get angry and want to act with violence. Instead of reacting impulsively, train yourself to keep a block on angry feelings until you have cooled down. Then confront the situation or person calmly. When flooded with negative emotions, the ability to hear, think and speak are severely impaired. Taking a "time out" can be enormously constructive. However, 5 minutes are not enough; research suggests that people need at least 20 minutes to recover.

I want you to try this and let me know if it is effective in your life.

Music

Today's Word: Music

Sometimes the world tries to knock it out of you
But I believe in music the way that some people believe in fairy tales
I like to imagine that what I hear came from my mother and father
Maybe the notes I hear are the same ones they heard the night they met
Maybe that's how they found each other
I believe that once upon a time, long ago
They heard the music, and followed it
The music is all around us, all you have to do is listen

What kind of Genre do you listen to to help you control you emotions?

Hate

Today's Word: Hate

I chose this word, because it is used so many times, but not understood. People witness hate everywhere from school to work and even home. I heard a quote a long time ago and still use it today that may help so many people if understood properly.

It's not what people call you, its what you answer to! - Tyler Perry

Now some people may get this at the first try, but others may not.

People will call you names, try and get you down and make you depressed, and even just try to harm your emotions. Understand this, People can call you all sorts of things, but until you believe them, or accept there hate, it isn't true. Ex. Someone calls you ignorant, now do you think that you are ignorant? If you say no, then you should let the comment blow over. It is when you let these comments get to you, is when they TRULY effect you.

Responsibility

Today's Word: Responsibility

"Whatever happens, take responsibility."
Anthony Robbins

A lot of people think of responsibility as a negative thing when it isn't. It is nearly a way of people accepting mistake and error, or even accepting what we did wrong or right. People tend to do certain things that hurt or harm people and refuse to take responsibility for it. People have things done to them and tend to always blame the other person. If everybody would start taking responsibility for things that either they cause or did, the world would not be an image of hate. The world is beautiful and once people start accepting mistakes and errors we can focus on the important things. Take responsibility and see where life takes you.

When did you have to accept responsibility?
